'On The Nail' Reading @ The Locke Bar

The monthly 'On The Nail' literary reading takes place Thursday 14th Jan 2010 at 8.00pm in The Locke Bar, George's Quay, Limerick.

Organised by The Limerick Writers' Centre this popular monthly reading and open-mic continues to attract audiences with a mix of poetry, prose and music.

This months programme starts with the launch of Revival Poetry Journal No.14. Local, national and international poets are included and a number of them will read from the journal on the night.
The special guest reader is poet John W Sexton who will launch and read from his new collection Petit Mal (Revival Press) during the evening.

As usual music will be provided by Chris Wood and friends. Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don’t write you are welcome to bring something along to read.

The night begins at 8.00pm and there is free admission and free finger food for everyone attending. So join us on the night and make this event something special.

This weeks guest is Denis O'Shaughnessy (Editor of Kemmy' sLimerick Miscellany).

Denis O’Shaughnessy has written seven books on his native city, starting with A Spot So Fair in 1998 to More Stories of Limerick in 2008. Denis will read from the recently published Kemmy's Limerick Miscellany. Denis and Jim Kemmy were classmates in CBS Sexton Street in years of deprivation of the early 1950ʼs, and both left secondary school shortly after starting to pursue respective trades, stone masonry and printing compositing.

He is married to Margaret and has five children. He lives in Corbally.

This weeks guest poet is Tom Moloney.

Tom Moloney grew up in Raheenagh. He now lives four miles from there in Broadford, Co. Limerick where he has his own grocery business. He has primary degrees in Arts, Business and Social Services as well as a Masters degree in Cultural Studies. He is a regular contributor at Poetry readings in the South of Ireland. He recently published his first collection of poems called My Register (Linden Publishing).
