This weeks guest poet is Michael Coady

Michael Coady was born in 1939 in Carrick-on-Suir, County Tipperary, where he lives and has worked as a teacher, musician and writer. Winner of the Patrick Kavanagh Award for poetry in 1979, he has published three collections with Gallery Press: Two for a Woman, Three for a Man (1980), Oven Lane (1987) and All Souls (1997), an illustrated compendium of poetry and prose which has attracted particular notice for its unusual format and bridging of genres. In addition to short story, verse, and the long title poem, it includes a series of translations from Gaelic poets of East Munster and an extended prose memoir of human destinies involved in emigration to America. Full Tide, a miscellany, was published by Relay Books in 1999.
Michael Coady has won a number of short story prizes, among them the Listowel Writers' Week Award and the RTE Francis MacManus short story competition. He has lectured in the U.S.A under the auspices of the Irish American Cultural Institute and has also retraced historical ties between southeast Ireland and Newfoundland with the assistance of an Arts Council Bursary. He has directed numerous writing workshops, broadcast on radio and television and given readings at arts events in Ireland and abroad. He was elected a member of Aosdána in 1998.

The White House Poetry Revival has being going now for three years. Every Wednesday the famous old world bar is transformed into a centre of culture as poets recite their latest work. Barney Sheehan and Dominic Taylor , the people behind the revival of poetry at the White House, continue to attract the best of Irish and International poetry to Limerick. The White House Poets would like to acknowledge the involvement of the Arts Council, Poetry Ireland, Foras na Gaeilge, Limerick City Council and the White House Bar for their continued support that has helped make the White House one of the pre eminent venues for poetry in Ireland.

As usual the reading is preceded by an open mic session in which anyone who wishes to read is invited to do so. Complementary finger food is provided and proceeding commence at 9.00 pm.

This weeks guest poet is Maureen Mc Ateer.

Maureen Mc Ateer was born in Limerick and is now living in Gweedore, Co. Donegal. A sister of the late Jim Kemmy she began writing poetry when the youngest of her seven children started school. Her first poem won a prize at the Allingham Arts Festival and she has since won it six times. She has also won prizes at the Charles Macklin Autumn School, the Magill Summer School and was winner of Limerick Scribblers Poetry Competition 2001. She has published in the Woman's Work Anthology and the Limerick Anthology and many more publications.

This weeks special guest is Kerry poet Tommy Frank O Connor.


Born Currow, Tralee, Co. Kerry, 1944. Poet, novelist, playwright, short-story writer, accountant. An extensively published, both nationally and abroad, and highly lauded short-story writer, Tommy Frank O'Connor won the Kerry International Summer School Short Story Competition in both 1994 and 1996. He was the only Irish finalist in the short-story section of the "One Voice International" competition in Swansea in 1995. His short stories can be found in The European, Madame Bull's Tavern (Canada), and Asylum, as well as his recently launched collection, Loose Head. As a novelist, Tommy Sheehan has published The Poacher's Apprentice (Marino Books, 1997), and his poetry, found in anthologies including Cúm, The Cuirt Collections 1996 & 1997, The Bard of Armagh Humourous Collection, Asylum, Podium, and The Edgeworth Papers, Vol. 2, will be released in the debut collection Attic Warpipes (Bradshaw Books, 2004) in November. His wok for the stage includes the pageant Breanainn, at Siamsa Tíre, the National Folk Theatre of Ireland and the play Changing Patrick, which premiered at St. John's, Listowel Square in 1997. Leader of the "Tralee Scribblers" writers' group, Tommy Frank O'Connor is involved heavily in the Tralee literary scene. Tommy latest offering was launched last month PULSE - WRITINGS ON SLIABH LUACHRA - a misxture of poems, stories and essays. He runs his own accountancy practice and currently lives and works in Tralee.

This weeks special guest poet is Limerick born Imelda Maguire.


Imelda Maguire was born in Limerick but lives in Donegal and is a member of Errigal Writers and Glass Apple Writers. Her first collection, Shout If You Want Me To Sing, was published in 2004 by Summer Palace Press; she has read at a number of literary festivals, and took part in Poetry Ireland 's Introductions series in 2002.
