White House Poets On Tour: Madrid June ' 07

The WhiteHousePoets and Revival Press took to the road this summer for the Spanish launch of John Liddy's, The Well: New and Selected Poems in Madrid. Poets Gerard Sheehy, Edward O Dwyer and Dominic Taylor hit the Spanish capitol for the launch at Booksellers where the Irish ambassador Peter Gunning performed the official launch.
Afterwards everyone retired to the James Joyce pub for a reception where host Matthew made everyone welcome, most of the Spanish capitols Limerick residents turned out for a night poetry, music and craic.
Limerick poetry has certainly made its mark on Madrid and the hope is to cement these links with further visits in the near future.

Limerick launch of Cork poet Billy Ramsell's debut collection, Complicated Pleasures, at the White House.

Billy Ramsell was born in Cork in 1977 and educated at North Monastery and UCC, His poems have appeared widely in magazines and journals and he was shortlisted in 2005 for a Hennessy award. The poems in Complicated Pleasures exist on the border between the personal and the political, combining delicately lyrical meditations on love, art and memory with darker works that confront head-on the pressures and uncertainties of an urban globalised. Complicated Pleasures is a first collection of considerable daring and undeniable accomplishment.
