An entertaining and uplifting afternoon of song, story and poetry for adults with singer Noirín Ni Riain, Cora Fenton of Call Back Theatre and Poet Eileen Sheehan who will be joined by Allundé - Women's Community singing group at Knockainey and County Limerick Youth Choir at Glenstal Abbey.

This weeks guest poet is Denisa Mirena Piscu.

Denisa Mirena Pişcu
is a Romanian poet residing in Bucharest. She was born on August 22nd, 1980 at Rădăuţi, Suceava county. She graduated the Faculty of Letters, University of Bucharest, followed by an interdisciplinary master at the Center of Excellence for the Study of Image. She has worked as journalist and translator and at present she is project coordinator at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Bucharest.

Denisa Mirena Pişcu published the first selection of her poems in Astra magazine (Braşov, 1992), followed by the publication of poetry, prose and essays in various cultural magazines in Romania, such as: Vatra, Viata Romaneasca, Bucureştiul Cultural, Ziua Literară, Suplimentul de Duminică, tiuk! , Fracturi (which founded the literary trend fracturism) etc.

During the faculty years she published the underground booklet fluffy and mechanical, carmen collection no.9 (2002).

The editorial debut was in 2003, at Vinea Publishing House, with a book of poems bearing the same title, Fluffy and Mechanical - which was awarded the prize for debut by the Association of Writers in Bucharest and the Writer’s Union, Brasov branch.

Her poems are included in the anthologies: Douămiismul poetic românesc (Generation 2000 in Romanian Poetry) by Ştefania Mincu, Pontica 2007; Generation 2000 by Marin Mincu (Pontica, 2004); The Second Top by Al. Cistelecan (Aula, 2004); Euridice Literary Circle, vol. 3, coordinated by Marin Mincu (Ziua, 2004).

During the years 2007-2008, she was involved in the international project “Overcoming Dictatorships – the Encounter of Artists, Poets and Writers”, sponsored by the EU, gathering artists and writers from the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania and Poland. At present, she’s studying sound poetry for her master thesis.

This tour of Ireland sees Denisa launch her second full collection “Disposable People”, published by Galway Print and which will be available at the readings.

This weeks guest poet is Limerick born Tim Cunningham

Tim Cunningham was born in Limerick in 1942. Educated at C.B.S., Limerick, and Birkbeck College, London, he worked with a brewery, local government, the National Coal Board and in education.
He has lived in Limerick, Tipperary, Dublin, Trowbridge, London, Newark (Delaware), and, presently, Billericay.
Tim has three collections published: Don Marcelino's Daughter (Peterloo Poets, 2001), Unequal Thirds (Peterloo Poets, 2006) and Kyrie (Revival Press, 2008).
'Ever since I met Tim Cunningham and his poems at an Arvon course in 1984, I have urged him to get a volume together for publication. I'm delighted that he has now done so, and hope readers will enjoy his work as much as I have.' Fleur Adcock

Launch of Revival 13 plus this weeks guest poet, in association with Cuisle International Poetry Festival is Maurice Riordan.

Maurice Riordan received the Michael Hartnett Award in 2007 for The Holy Land (Faber). Previous collections, A Word from the Loki and Floods, were nominated for the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Book Award. Other publications include A Quark for Mister Mark:101 Poems About Science and Hart Crane, which has recently appeared in Faber`s `Poet to Poet` series. Born in Lisgoold, Co Cork, he lives in London and teaches on the Writing MA at Sheffield Hallam university.

Limerick launch of Lost Grace by Donal O'Flynn plus a reading
by Stephen Roger Powers.

Donal O’Flynn’s work is always passionate and honest. His voice is individual and assured. He describes with sympathy and love the ordinary joys and trials of life, exchanges with and observations of family, friends and community that enhance our lives. Some of the work is playful, some mischievous where the revered are cast in the direct light of his own experience. Some poems use a language of directness that aptly matches the seriousness of the subject mattered explored. Lost Grace is Donal O'Flynn's debut collection and will be launched on the night.

PLUS

Stephen Roger Powers was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and grew up in the cornfields of nearby Sun Prairie. While working on his PhD in English he wrote a stand-up act about his hearing impairment and performed for several years in comedy clubs and casinos around the American Midwest. Today he splits his time between Milwaukee and Georgia, where he teaches at Gordon College and enjoys the beaches of Tybee Island. The Follower's Tale is his first book.
