Wanted: Limerick Writers for Writing Course
Urgently seeking applications from Limerick Writers for Dingle Writing Courses Bursary
If you’re a writer who’s hungry to learn more about your craft but can’t afford to take it further, Dingle Writing Courses may have the answer.In association with Kerry County Council, Dingle Writing Courses is offering one Kerry writer the chance to take an intensive weekend writing course this autumn, at a fraction of the normal fee. The winner of the bursary will work with one of Ireland’s top writers in one of west Kerry’s most scenic spots. Tigh Aine sits on the tip of the Dingle Peninsula overlooking the magnificent Clothar Head and Strand, and in between tutoring sessions course participants are treated to stunning views and the best of home-cooked food.
The winner of the bursary can choose from one of the following courses: Poetry with Maurice Riordan, September 19-21, Children’s Fiction with Malachy Doyle, September 26 – 28, Starting to Write with Enda Wyley, October 10-12, Fiction with Claire Kilroy, October 17-19.
To coincide with the courses each tutor will give a public reading at lunchtime in the Dingle Bookshop on the Friday the course begins.

WHITE HOUSE POETRY REVIVAL

This weeks guest poet is Ailbhe Darcy.
Ailbhe Darcy has published poems in Ireland, Britain and the US. 'Protest' features in the current issue of Crannóg, and 'Bluff' can be found in the latest issue of Seam. She also writes critically on poetry for The Stinging Fly and Verbal. She recently appeared as part of the prestigious Poetry Ireland Introductions Series, and has read at the London Irish Centre, Liberty Hall and Keats' House. She will feature again at London's Poetry Café on 26th July.
Born in Dublin in 1981, Ailbhe has lived in Paris, Nice, London and Cambridge, working as a holiday rep, in a bookshop, at a tax institute, in a students' union and serving countless drinks in various pubs. She has a BA in English and French, an MA in publishing and an MSc in development studies, the last of which took her to Zambia to study community media there. At the end of August she will move to the US to embark on a PhD at the University of Notre Dame. With Clodagh Moynan, she co-edits Moloch, an online journal of new Irish art and writing.

Launch of Issue 8 of Revival Poetry Journal plus reading by poet John Liddy
John Liddy was born in Youghal, Co. Cork but grew up in Limerick. He is the founding editor along with Jim Burke of The Stony Thursday Book (1975 -) and has edited bilingual issues with his brother Liam and Miguel Ortega. He is a teacher and librarian and lives in Madrid.

This weeks guest is Alan Garvey.
Alan Garvey is an Arts administrator and part-time lecturer, he has been published in various magazines and anthologies. He has received grants from the Arts Council in order to travel to Toronto, Newfoundland and Budapest; and has given readings around the country. He lives in Carlow with his wife, Tara and son, Keir, where he is one of the founding members of the Pygmalion Writers’ Group. His first collection, Herself in Air (2006), was published by Lapwing Publications, Belfast. His second, Learning To Crawl (also on Lapwing) was published earlier this year. He has just submitted his MA in Creative Writing thesis for which he studied in WIT, and returned from Budapest where he was working on a new series of poems.
