This weeks guest poet is Greagoir O Duill.

Greagoir O Duill is an established poet in both Irish and English, "New Room Windows" from Tralee's Doghouse being his most recent collection. He has taught creative writing and contemporary Irish literature in Queen's University, Belfast, in the Poets' House in Falcarragh and in Waterford Institute of Technology. He has read extensively from Boston to Berlin and from Stornoway to Palermo and is also well known as a critic and adjudicator. He has recently been appointed director of the premier Irish language magazine, COMHAR.

This weeks guest poet is Knute Skinner.

Knute Skinner was born in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2000 he retired from teaching and now, along with his spouse, Edna Faye Kiel, is resident year round in Killaspuglonane, County Clare.

His first book of poetry, Stranger with a Watch, appeared in 1965 and contained early poems written in Iowa. His second collection, A Close Sky over Killaspuglonane (1968), showed the influence of the people and the landscape of rural Clare. Since then, he has published eight more books and six chapbooks. His poems, which have appeared widely in serial publications in Ireland, England, Australia and North America, show a variety of styles, including both free and formal verse. Two collections, The Bears and What Trudy Knows, demonstrate a marked departure from his usual lyric mode, as the poems are all fictional narratives highlighting brief moments in the lives of the imagined narrators. In 2007 Salmon Publishing brought out a collected edition, Fifty Years: Poems 1957-2007. He occasionally conducts poetry writing workshops, and he is currently at work on a new collection of poems.

Miceál Kearney, 27, from Galway. Published in Ireland, England and America. He has won the Cuisle, Cúirt and the North Beach Nights Poetry Grand Slams and is the current Baffle Bard. Urgently seeking applications from Limerick Writers for Dingle Writing Courses Bursary

If you’re a writer who’s hungry to learn more about your craft but can’t afford to take it further, Dingle Writing Courses may have the answer.In association with Limerick City Council, Dingle Writing Courses is offering one Limerick writer the chance to take an intensive weekend writing course this autumn, at a fraction of the normal fee. The winner of the bursary will work with one of Ireland’s top writers in one of west Kerry’s most scenic spots. Tigh Aine sits on the tip of the Dingle Peninsula overlooking the magnificent Clothar Head and Strand, and in between tutoring sessions course participants are treated to stunning views and the best of home-cooked food.The winner of the bursary can choose from one of the following courses: Poetry with Maurice Riordan, September 19-21, Children’s Fiction with Malachy Doyle, September 26 – 28, Starting to Write with Enda Wyley, October 10-12, Fiction with Claire Kilroy, October 17-19.To coincide with the courses each tutor will give a public reading at lunchtime in the Dingle Bookshop on the Friday the course begins.

This weeks guest poet is Eileen Sheehan.

Eileen Sheehan: Eileen Sheehan is from Scartaglin, Co Kerry, now living in Killarney. Her first collection, Song Of The Midnight Fox (Doghouse Books) was published in 2004. She is the winner of the inaugural Writers’ Week Listowel Poetry Slam (2004) and the Brendan Kennelly Poetry Award (2006). She is on the Poetry Ireland Writers In Schools Scheme and is employed by County Kerry VEC teaching Creative Writing at Killarney Technical College. Anthology publications include The Open Door Book of Poetry (Ed Niall MacMonagle), Winter Blessings by Patricia Scanlan, Our Shared Japan (Dedalus Press) and The Echoing Years: An Anthology of Irish & Canadian Poetry. In April she read at The National American Conference For Irish Studies in Iowa. Her second collection, Down the Sunlit Hall, was launched at Writers’ Week Listowel in May 2008.
