White House Poets in association with Foras na Gaeilge present
a bi-lingual evening of poetry with Rita Kelly.
Rita Kelly was Born 1953. Grew up on the plains of East Galway, close enough to
Ballinasloe. Has lived on the River Barrow between Athy and Carlow for many years.
A full-time poet and fiction writer in both Irish and English. She has published 4
collections of poetry and 1 collection of short stories. Her 'Kelly reads Bewick', won best book Award in Ireland for that year.
She has edited various literary journals and anthologies including Poetry Ireland Review. She has been widely anthologised during the last 20 years. Her work has earned various literary awards, including the Seán Ó Riordáin/Oireachtas Award; a Listowel Award; an Irish Times/Merriman Award.
She has been translated into German, Dutch, French and Italian. Her work was placed on courses in Yale University 1989, that took her to the US and she spent 6 years in New York City.
