This weeks guest is Val Nolan

Val Nolan is a native of Ardagh, Co. Limerick. He is a graduate of UCC and the MA in Writing programme at NUI Galway, where he is currently completing doctoral study, lecturing on 20th century poetry and Irish short fiction, along with facilitating creative writing workshops. His poetry has been published in Ché in Verse, an anthology of poetry about Ché Guevara, and in New York's Mobius Magazine. He has also published work in literary journals such as Revival, Southword, Crannóg, ROPES, Spoke, Criterion '05, and contributed to the 2007 Cúirt International Festival of Literature as part of the Document writer/artist collaboration.

As a critic he has written reviews, articles and interviews for publications including Poetry Ireland Review, The Sunday Business Post, Magill and The Stinging Fly. He has read his work widely in Ireland and the UK, and was selected for last year's Poetry Ireland ‘Introductions’ programme along with Galway's ‘Over the Edge’ reading series. He has recently delivered papers and invited lectures on Michael Hartnett, Derek Mahon and Louis MacNeice at UCC, University of Stirling and Queens University Belfast respectively.
