Book Launch - Always Pushing The Pull Door



Always Pushing The Pull Door a new collection of poems by

Mark Whelan with illustrations by artist Thomas Delohery.

December 6th sees the launch of Always Pushing The Pull Door, a second collection of poems by Limerick poet Mark Whelan. Always Pushing The Pull Door is a book of poems in two sections, the first section: Poemtraits of Richard Harris, are poems which were written to commemorate the life of the Limerick born actor, and are a response to the works of Clare artist Thomas Delohery, whose exhibition to commemorate Richard Harris titled: Richard Harris: A Life premiered at Friars Gate Killmallock October 2006, after which it toured various venues in the Limerick and Mid-West region. The second section titled The Story of a Poem as a Small Town/The Yellow Shark Chronicles Volumes I and II, is a response to the composition Yellow Shark by Frank Zappa as performed by the Ensemble Modern. The introduction to Always Pushing The Pull Door, is written by poet Ciaran O Driscoll and will be launched by artist John Shinnors.

The publication of Always Pushing The Pull Door is the second full collection of poems published by Revival Press in association with The White House Poets, who earlier this year published John Liddy’s The Well: New And Selected Poems.

Revival Press headed up by Dominic Taylor and in association with The White House Poets, founded by Barney Sheehan, publishes a quarterly journal of contemporary poetry titled Revival. It also publishes an occasional chapbook titled Trio, a platform for new and emerging voices in poetry.

Always Pushing The Pull Door published by Revival press in association with the White House Poets will be launched by John Shinnors at the Limerick City Library at 8.00 p.m. Dec 6th 2007.
