This weeks special guest is poet Jean O Brien.
Jean O'Brien was born in Dublin and has recently moved to the midlands, after being writer in residence for Co. Laois in 2005.
She has published widely in magazines and journals in Ireland, the UK and the USA.
She has taken part and read at various venues and festival both here and abroad and has read as far afield as New York and Maylasia.
Her work has featured on RTE Radio !, The Poets Chair, The Arts Show and on The Darkness Echoing, she has also broadcast on Lyric FM, Midlands Radio and many local radio stations.
She has had two chapbooks published and two full collections, The Shadow Keeper Salmon 1997 and her most recent Dangerous Dresses (Bradshaw Books 2005).
Jean holds an M. Phil. in creative writing from Trinity College Dublin and was a founding member of the celebrated Dublin Writers Workshop. She was the administrator for Poetry Ireland for a year, and administrator of the National Poetry Competition/Friends Provident for three years.
She currently runs creative writing courses in the Irish Writers Centre and has run courses for various county council, and in Mountjoy and Portlaoise Prison. She is part of the writer in school scheme.
