Armed with guitar the green fields of France awaited. The busking became full time work for many years and brought him the length and breath of Europe. Then living in Munich for two years he recorded his first E.P. This led to parts in a German T.V. documentary and many appearances on the very healthy folk scene at the time. The homeland was calling him back and he knew that he would have to return to Limerick.(Where that same old offer of “Job for sale” is back).

Peter then set up the O'Malley's who at that time were playing a mix of country and Irish. It was a three piece band and they recorded a four song (E.P.) and did one or two shows on R.T.E. Then the band got bigger and did tours of Germany (in a red V.W. Van, God Bless it).The O'Malley's went on to play all the main venues around Ireland, released two records and Videos. Did every TV. show, The Late Late, Pat Kenny, Sunday night at the Olympia, Brendan Grace Show, Shay Healy's Nighthawks weekly show. Then they toured England, Russia and the States.

Peter went solo doing the club circuit. He brought out a comedy single Poitin which opened the world of comedy to him. Also at this time he started doing gigs with James Hanley and he brought out his first C.D. called "Beyond the Pale" on Round Tower Music. Peter's songs have also been featured on albums," Drag Lines", The Cream of New Irish Music, Songs from Ireland and The Best of Irish Song Writers" He toured this Album across Europe, from the North to the South, West to East. Peter did some recording in Denmark in the Medley Studio. He then released his second C.D. “Till the morning gets Late” with James Hanley and is now releasing his new C.D. “Four giant Monks”. All are for download on http://www.cdbaby.com/Artist/PeterOMalley.

As usual all aspiring songwriters are invited to attend and play there songs in front of a live audience. All types of music and singers are welcome, a limited amount of instruments will be available for use on the night.

There will also be an opportunity for getting a YouTube video of your performance made free of charge and uploaded to our site. Performances will also be recorded and broadcast as a Podcast at a later date. Host for the sessions are songwriters Brian Connolly, Chris Wood and Sean Macleod. As the venue develops into a hot spot for new talent in Limerick, plans are a foot to invite recording artists, producers, managers and publishers, anyone who may be looking for fresh new songs. SongWriter Sessions@The Locke Bar is a regular feature of the live music scene in Limerick and takes place every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Thursday of the month.

If you wish to play contact Brian Connolly at limericksongwriters@gmail.com to book a spot or turn up on the night. Further details can be got at www.myspace.com/limericksongwriters or from http://limericksongwriters.blogspot.com

All are welcome those who wish to perform or just listen. In 2000 he retired from teaching and now, along with his spouse, Edna Faye Kiel, is resident year round in Killaspuglonane, County Clare.

His first book of poetry, Stranger with a Watch, appeared in 1965 and contained early poems written in Iowa. His second collection, A Close Sky over Killaspuglonane (1968), showed the influence of the people and the landscape of rural Clare. Since then, he has published eight more books and six chapbooks. His poems, which have appeared widely in serial publications in Ireland, England, Australia and North America, show a variety of styles, including both free and formal verse. Two collections, The Bears and What Trudy Knows, demonstrate a marked departure from his usual lyric mode, as the poems are all fictional narratives highlighting brief moments in the lives of the imagined narrators. In 2007 Salmon Publishing brought out a collected edition, Fifty Years: Poems 1957-2007. He occasionally conducts poetry writing workshops. The Limerick launch of his memoir Help Me To A Getaway (Salmon) will be launched on the night by local poet Mark Whelan.

John Walsh was born in Derry in 1950. After sixteen years teaching English in Germany, in 1989 he returned to live in Connemara. His first collection of poetry 'Johnny tell Them' was published by Guildhall Press (Derry) in October 2006.

In 2007 he received a Publication Award from Galway County Council to publish his second collection,'Love's Enterprise Zone' (Doire Press, Connemara).

His poems have been published in Ireland, the UK and Austria and he has read and performed his poems at events in Ireland, the UK, Germany and Sweden.

He is organizer and MC of the successful performance poetry event North Beach Poetry Nights in the Crane Bar, Galway, Ireland's leading monthly performance poetry event. In March this year John won the Spring Festival Poetry Slam at the Munster Literary Festival in Cork. Bob has dabbled (badly) in writing since he was very young but recently not only managed to finish something he’d started but actually succeeded in getting it published. The Third Pig Detective Agency (published by The Friday Project – an imprint of Harper Collins) is his first novel and follows the adventures of Harry Pigg, porcine sleuth and his attempts to track down a missing lamp for local businessman, Aladdin. The sequel, in which Harry must try to track down a large bearded gentleman dressed in red with a penchant for saying ‘ho ho ho’ a lot, will be published in November 2010 and the third book in the series is scheduled for summer 2011.
When not writing and being an unpaid chauffeur for his three sons, Bob enjoys reading lots and lots of books and supporting Munster in rugby and Chelsea in football. Although a keen gamer (both board and computer), being comprehensively beaten by his seven year old son in Mario Kart recently has convinced him that his gaming talents may lie elsewhere.

Brendan Murphy, Cuirt Slam Champion 2005, All Ireland Slam Champion 2007, Over the Edge Flash Fiction Champion and North Beach Slam Champion 2009.

As usual music will be provided by Chris Wood and friends. Everyone is invited to take part in the open-mic after the main event, poets, storytellers, musicians and writers . Even if you don't write you are welcome to bring something along to read. The night begins at 8.00pm and there is free admission and free finger food for everyone attending. So join us on the night and make this event something special.

NOTE: Our special authors book table will again be in operation, so if you want your book, CD's etc publicised make sure you are represented on the
table.
