White House Poetry Revival

This weeks guest poet is Alan Garvey.


Alan Garvey's work has been published in magazines such as 'THE SHOp',
'Southword' and 'The Stinging Fly'; and the anthologies: 'The Backyards of
Heaven' and 'However Blow the Winds'. He self-published three chapbooks:
'Dear Whoever', 'The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' and 'Play Dead'. He
received Travel & Mobility grants from the Arts Council of Ireland to read
in the University of Toronto and at the March Hare Festival, Newfoundland.
He lives in Carlow with his wife, Tara and son, Keir. Arts administrator
and part-time lecturer, he is studying for an M.A. in Creative Writing at
Waterford Institute of Technology. His first full collection, 'Herself in
Air' (2006), is published by Lapwing Publications (Belfast).

This weeks guest poet is Cliff Wegebury.

Cliff Wegebury is a Cork based poet, playwright, performing artist and broadcaster, born in London in 1946.He has released three CD's of his own compositions, the last being "Antarctic Ballads," in 2006, featuring the widely broadcast, "Ballad of Tom Crean." "A Lingering Adolescence," is his fifth collection of poetry, being published shortly by Belfast Lapwing.

In association with Foras na Gaeilge: a reading by Mike Mac Domhnaill

Mike Mac Domhnaill has been published in various journals. Most satisfying has to be honour of poems
published in the Stony Thursday Book 1978 alongside the late Michael
Hartnett. He is currently completing a bi-bingual book of poetry which will be published in
the autumn.
Short-listed for the Francis Mac Manus Short Story Award 2007 and will have
work read on RTE Radio 1 during early summer.

As usual the reading is preceded by an open mic session in which anyone who wishes to read is invited to do so. Complementary finger food is provided and proceeding commence at 9.00 pm.

Launch of Issue 3 of Revival Poetry Journal

The WhiteHousePoets have for the past four years held their White House Poetry Revival readings in the White House pub in Limerick City, Ireland. Over a year ago Microphone On - an anthology of poetry read at the White House was published. Now the White HousePoets launch Issue three of REVIVAL poetry journal next Wed 11th April at the White House. Copies will be available on the night PRICE: €7.00

Submissions are now being accepted for Issue 4 to be published in July 2007. Deadline for submissions is the 31st. May 2007.

Plus A Reading by poet Paul O Mahony.


Paul O'Mahony is from Limerick. Born 1950, he left home in 1968 and journeyed to Dublin, London, Bath before moving to Cork in 2005. Under familial, Jesuitical, atheistic and tangenital influences, he became a poet in June 1995. His poetical heroes are Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Wilfred Owen & Evan Boland. He's travelled in search of his voice, and written over 2,000 poems in 11 years, a sliver of which have been published. He set up the "Dandy Lion Poets" and "Dandelion Poets" who performed at festivals in south-west England and Cornwall. He is new to Ireland, an uncomfortable stranger returned. This evening is part of his re-induction to Munster. This is the first reading of his new collection called "A Voice from the Shadows".
